The defining electric guitar of rock and pop-culture is without a doubt the Fender Stratocaster (strat). Usually when an electric guitar is mentioned, a Strat is the first one people think of (even if they don’t know it). It was first released in the early 1950’s and soon after picked up by musicians of popular genres at that point in time. Even after all these years, the strat is still considered top of the line and is the standard other solid body electric guitars are judged by. This is just one of the reasons why we recommend it as a backline option!

Not only is this a solid instrument to have, but some of the best names in music have used a Stratocaster: Buddy Holly, Jimi Hendrix, David Gilmour, Bonnie Raitt, John Mayer, and wayyyy more. These are all absolute music legends associated with the strat sound which is what brings even more value to an already incredible instrument.

The main features of the strat have barely changed since day one and it’s been almost 70 years since it was released! Here’s a list of what you’ll find with your electric guitar:

  • Double cutaways

  • Forearm/tummy contours

  • Maple neck

  • Maple/rosewood fingerboard

  • 3 single-coil pickups

  • Non-locking tremolo

  • 25.5” scale length

  • Blade selector switch and 3-knob control layout

We know we already said it, but if you’re looking for a guitar to add to your backline, add this one.
